Leading with Curiosity, Speed, and Impact: Inside Opera’s Revenue Transformation
A conversation about building global teams, moving fast, taking risks, and creating impact at Opera.
Q: Let’s start at the beginning - what led you to Opera?
A: I’ve always been drawn to marketing, but when digital advertising started taking off, it felt like the perfect space for me. It combined strategy, analytics, communication, and relationship-building in a way that was incredibly dynamic. I loved the idea that you could move fast, make decisions quickly, and immediately see the impact of your work.
At the time, Dublin was becoming one of the biggest tech and advertising hubs in Europe, so I decided to take the leap and move there. Looking back, that decision changed everything for me.
After a few marketing roles, I joined one of the major social media companies and eventually led teams across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Over the years, I helped build several teams and organizations from the ground up, which taught me a lot about leadership, adaptability, and growth.
My career evolved across advertising, sales, customer success, and enablement before I joined Opera to lead the Client Solutions org. My responsibilities kept growing steadily in the last three years and currently as the VP of Revenue Operations I’m overseeing our direct partnerships and account management initiatives, Ads Analytics, Marketing for Opera Ads and the operations side of our commercial business.
Q: What made performance marketing and AdTech the right fit for you?
A: Back when I started, marketing looked very different from today. I’ve always been motivated by environments where you can see the direct results of your work.
Performance marketing stood out because it moves in real time. You can launch something one day and measure the impact the next. I enjoy fast-paced environments where there’s always a new challenge to solve, and adtech gave me exactly that energy.
Q: What initially attracted you to Opera?
A: Opera immediately felt familiar to me - it was the browser my family used when I was growing up.
But what really convinced me was the opportunity to create impact. I’ve never wanted to be in a role where I’m simply maintaining the status quo. At Opera, ideas matter more than hierarchy. If you’re proactive and willing to take ownership, you can genuinely shape the direction of the business.
It’s rare to find a company with such a strong legacy that still operates with the energy and ambition of a challenger brand. That combination was incredibly exciting to me.
Q: Looking back, which moments at Opera have shaped you the most?
A:The last few years at Opera have been transformational both for the company and for me personally.
We entered new markets, built new partnerships, and took risks that pushed us outside our comfort zones. There were countless conversations, flights, and moments where we had to trust our instincts and move forward without having all the answers.
Seeing the business grow at the pace it has over the past few years has been incredibly rewarding, especially knowing how much teamwork and persistence went into building that momentum.
But what I value most is the feeling that we’re building something meaningful together. I still wake up excited about the work we’re doing and the people I get to do it with.
Q: How would you describe your day-to-day at Opera?
A: Fast-moving. That’s probably the best way to describe it.
My days usually start early with conversations across Asia, where a significant part of our business is based. From there, it’s a mix of meetings, strategy discussions, client conversations, and making sure we stay aligned on priorities and goals.
In performance marketing and adtech, things can change very quickly, so a big part of the job is staying adaptable and solving problems in real time. I also spend a lot of time with partners and clients because staying close to the market is incredibly important to us.
Q: What advice would you give to someone starting their career today?
A: Stay curious. This industry evolves constantly, and the people who grow the fastest are the ones who never stop learning.
Don’t wait for opportunities to come to you either. The people who make the biggest impact are usually the ones who take initiative before they’re asked to.
And finally, don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Some of the best decisions in my career came from taking chances that initially felt uncomfortable or uncertain. For me, that meant moving countries several times throughout my career. For someone else, it could mean changing teams, trying a completely new role, or saying yes to an opportunity that feels challenging.
Growth rarely happens in the most predictable situations.
Q: What makes Opera’s culture different?
A: Opera is a place for people who want to contribute, move fast, and make things happen. There’s a strong sense of ownership here, regardless of title or seniority.
One thing I genuinely appreciate is that people aren’t afraid to try. Mistakes happen, and that’s part of building and innovating. What matters is learning quickly and moving forward.
The culture is also incredibly approachable. You can speak with leaders across the company openly and directly, and there’s a real sense that everyone is working toward the same goals together.
At the end of the day, Opera feels like a place where people are trusted to contribute, grow, and make a meaningful impact.
