Who We Hire
Find your place at Opera
Your perspective is part of what moves Opera forward. Bring your ideas, take ownership, and help build something that matters.
Opera has been shaping the web for over 30 years, and the people behind that work are what make it possible. If you're curious, accountable, and ready to grow, here's what you need to know about joining us.
At Opera, ownership matters more than titles. You’ll work with people who trust each other, challenge each other, and care deeply about building great products. We value those who step beyond their formal scope, because great ideas can come from anywhere.
We're looking for builders. People who enjoy creating, improving, and experimenting, who take ownership and turn ideas into real outcomes. Autonomy isn't just a perk here, it's how we operate. We offer flexibility and trust in how people work, and in return we expect accountability and strong results. Freedom and responsibility go hand in hand.
We move fast, with intention. We value wellbeing as part of everyday work, and with teams across Europe and beyond, we bring a range of backgrounds and perspectives into everything we build. This is a place where asking questions is encouraged, growth is supported, and your work connects to a product used by over 300 million people worldwide.
What makes someone successful at Opera
Adaptability
Things change, priorities shift, products evolve, new challenges appear. The people who do well here are comfortable with that. They don't wait for certainty before moving forward.
Communication & collaboration
We work across borders and disciplines. Being clear, listening actively, and sharing ideas openly isn't a soft skill here - it's how the work gets done.
Curiosity & innovation
We're building the future of browsing. That takes people who ask "why not?" as much as "why?" - people who bring fresh thinking and aren't afraid to suggest something new.
Integrity
We trust our people. In return, we expect honesty, accountability, and a willingness to own both the wins and the misses.
Drive to grow
Technology evolves fast, and so do we. We value people who stay curious, challenge themselves, and continuously develop new skills and perspectives.
FAQ
-
On average, the hiring process takes about 1.5 months and includes several steps: an HR pre-screening, role-related interviews (focused on assessing skills and knowledge), an assessment task (if applicable), and a business interview to evaluate both personal and professional competencies in a business context. We carefully consider all aspects of the recruitment process before making a final offer decision.
-
While we embrace hybrid work, we typically focus on hiring within our legal entities and do not offer fully remote roles. This approach allows us to foster team collaboration and personal connections, which we believe are essential for productivity and team development.
-
Once you submit your application, you can expect to hear back around five business days. If your CV is shortlisted, you’ll receive an email invitation for the HR pre-screening. If your application is not selected, you will be notified, and we encourage you to apply for other suitable roles.
-
For internship positions, we don’t expect extensive experience. Instead, we look for strong interest and passion. Highlight relevant education, projects, and extracurricular activities that demonstrate your alignment with the role you’re applying for.
-
Your CV should ideally be no longer than one page, clearly outlining your education, employment history, and significant achievements. If you have a creative portfolio or a list of projects, you can include them as a shared link or an appendix to your CV. A cover letter is encouraged but optional unless explicitly mentioned in the job posting.
-
The HR pre-screening is an initial call with a recruiter to discuss the interview process, job details, and answer any questions you may have. This is not an official interview with the hiring team, so no extra preparation is required. The recruiter will review your application, address any uncertainties, and ensure the role is a good match for you. They will also explain the compensation range, role responsibilities, and success metrics. After this stage, the recruiter will share their recommendations with the hiring team to decide whether to proceed with the interview process.
-
Absolutely! If multiple roles interest you, feel free to apply. During the HR pre-screening, the recruiter will guide you on how to proceed with the roles you’ve applied for.
-
Yes, you can reapply immediately if there are other suitable roles available. There is no mandatory waiting period.
-
Once you’ve completed the interviews, the recruiter will review your experience and address any remaining questions. If both parties are comfortable with moving forward, the recruiter will discuss employment terms and conditions. After the employment terms and conditions are accepted, the recruiter will initiate the formal approval process, which takes around 5 business days. Once approved, the official employment contract will be sent via email for your review and signature.

Depending on the role, the assessment task is designed to evaluate your skills in a practical setting. For technical positions, this may involve a coding exercise, while designers might be given a design-focused assignment. For business-related positions, the task could involve creating a presentation or completing an analytical exercise to assess your critical thinking and communication skills.
