QA Automation Engineer
Join Opera's Desktop Browser team and help shape the quality of one of the world's leading web browsers. As a QA Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test solutions that ensure the stability and performance of Opera One across Linux, Windows and macOS. Working closely with Product Managers, Software Engineers, and fellow QA Automation Engineers, you will play a key role in validating new browser features while continuously improving our automation framework and testing infrastructure. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, building scalable test frameworks, and leveraging modern AI-assisted development tools to improve testing efficiency.
Role & Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain automated end-to-end and functional tests using Python, pytest, and Selenium (or Playwright) for Opera's desktop browser.
Maintain and continuously improve the existing automation framework to ensure reliable, scalable, and efficient test coverage.
Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Software Engineers to understand new features, define test strategies, and deliver automation alongside feature development.
Maintain and troubleshoot CI/CD testing infrastructure, including Jenkins, GitLab pipelines, and test environments.
Evaluate, integrate, and leverage AI-powered development and test automation tools to improve test creation, maintenance, debugging, and overall engineering productivity.
Job Requirements:
5+ years of experience in QA Automation or Software Test Engineering.
Strong Python development skills with hands-on experience building and maintaining automation frameworks using pytest.
Experience with Selenium; experience with Playwright is also highly valued.
Familiarity with Git, GitLab, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipeline configuration and maintenance.
Hands-on experience integrating AI-powered development and test automation tools (e.g. Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, or similar) into day-to-day engineering workflows to accelerate test development, improve framework maintenance, and enhance software quality.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional engineering team.
Ideal Candidate’s Profile:
Experience testing desktop applications on Windows and macOS.
Experience evaluating and adopting emerging AI-assisted testing frameworks and automation solutions.
Experience building scalable automation frameworks from the ground up.
Familiarity with browser technologies and modern web application testing.
