Director, Ads Optimization & User Acquisition
Opera Ads is looking for a Director, Ads Optimization & User Acquisition to drive the next generation of performance advertising capabilities across our platform. This role will own the strategy and evolution of our optimization ecosystem, spanning audience intelligence, user acquisition, prediction systems, bidding, campaign delivery, and ROAS optimization.
Working at the intersection of Product, Engineering, Machine Learning, Data Science, and Commercial teams, you will help shape how advertisers acquire and engage users at scale while improving campaign efficiency, advertiser value, and long-term business growth.
The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in performance advertising and user acquisition with a strong understanding of machine learning-driven optimization systems, audience modeling, and advertiser economics. You will play a key role in defining the roadmap and helping Opera Ads strengthen its competitive position within the global app-install and performance advertising ecosystem.
Role and Responsibilities:
Define and execute the strategy for Opera Ads’ optimization and user acquisition capabilities, with a focus on advertiser performance and long-term value creation.
Lead the evolution of core advertising systems, including bidding, auction optimization, targeting, campaign delivery, attribution, measurement, and budget allocation.
Partner closely with Engineering, Machine Learning, and Data Science teams to improve audience intelligence, conversion prediction, user value modeling, and ROAS optimization.
Drive the development of audience expansion, targeting, and optimization capabilities that improve campaign efficiency and advertiser outcomes.
Evaluate market trends, competitive offerings, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for product innovation and differentiation.
Define product roadmaps and investment priorities based on business impact, advertiser needs, and platform growth objectives.
Establish success metrics and performance frameworks across ROI, ROAS, advertiser retention, campaign efficiency, and revenue growth.
Lead experimentation and data-driven decision-making to continuously improve optimization performance and advertiser results.
Collaborate with Commercial, Customer Success, and Operations teams to translate customer insights into scalable product and platform improvements.
Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on the future of performance advertising, user acquisition, machine learning, and audience intelligence.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
8+ years of experience in Product Management, Advertising Technology, Performance Marketing, User Acquisition, Applied Science, Machine Learning, or related fields.
Strong understanding of mobile app-install advertising, programmatic advertising, DSPs, ad exchanges, attribution, MMPs, SKAdNetwork, privacy frameworks, and performance optimization.
Experience working with machine learning-driven advertising systems, including audience modeling, conversion prediction, user value prediction, ranking, bidding, auction optimization, or ROAS optimization.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively across Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Commercial organizations.
Strong analytical mindset with experience using data to drive product strategy, optimization decisions, and business outcomes.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence both technical and business audiences.
Experience at a leading advertising technology company, performance marketing platform, mobile advertising network, DSP, social advertising platform, or large-scale consumer technology company is highly desirable.
