Software Engineer
Location: Dundee (Hybrid)
We’re looking for a Software Engineer to help shape the future of GameMaker - empowering millions of creators worldwide. In this role, you’ll design and optimize exciting new features, driving performance, stability, and intuitive user experiences in our game engine. You’ll collaborate across teams to integrate new functionality, stay ahead of emerging technologies, and make a real impact on how games are made in GameMaker. Role & Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance the existing product, ensuring stability and performance.
- Design and implement new features that expand the capabilities of GameMaker as a whole.
- Collaborate with UI/UX teams to deliver functionality that is both intuitive and visually consistent with the GameMaker brand.
- Work closely with the Runtime teams to align GameMaker functionality for seamless integration.
- Develop an ecosystem of reusable tools for GameMaker.
Job Requirements:
- Proficiency in C# or C/C++ development, with the ability to work on complex systems and maintain code quality.
- Experience with Tools Programming is desirable, particularly with cross-process communication.
- Strong ability and motivation to learn, with a genuine interest in exploring lower-level code and platform interactions.
- Experience at a mid-level or senior-level is required.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to dig into unfamiliar codebases and quickly adapt to new technologies.
- Collaborative attitude and openness to guidance, while showing initiative to develop skills independently.
