Senior Frontend Developer

Are you ready to push the boundaries of what’s possible with AI and redefine how humans interact with the web? Opera is seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Frontend Developer with a strong foundation in JavaScript and frontend architecture to help shape the future of AI-powered browsing.
This isn’t just a coding role - we're looking for someone with 5+ years of hands-on experience building and scaling modern frontend applications, with a deep understanding of system architecture and how frontend layers interact within complex ecosystems. You’ll help design, develop, and optimize AI-powered user experiences used by millions of people globally.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Design and build advanced frontend features for AI-enhanced browser experiences.
- Integrate AI-powered workflows across development, from prototyping to optimization.
- Drive frontend evolution with focus on scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Collaborate across teams (backend, design, product) to deliver seamless user experiences.
- Mentor developers and foster innovation, while ensuring code quality and exploring new tools/frameworks.
Job Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in frontend development with modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, and CSS, plus strong knowledge of frameworks like React, Vue, or Svelte.
- Proven ability to design and implement scalable architectures with a focus on performance, responsiveness, cross-browser compatibility, and accessibility.
- Hands-on experience with AI tools, including prompt engineering, refining AI-generated code, and showcasing measurable productivity or quality gains.
- Strong backend integration skills (RESTful APIs, WebSockets) combined with expertise in frontend performance optimization and best practices.
- Track record of innovation and collaboration, bringing technical excellence and continuous improvement to the development process
