We are looking for a Gaming Communications Manager to join the Opera Global Communications Team.

As a Communications Manager, you will play a key role in shaping the communications aspect of our gaming products (Opera GX, GX.games and GameMaker). This is a global role so that you will be working across several markets. If you’re self-driven, ambitious and can demonstrate past experience in successfully running Communications for companies in the Gaming industry, then we believe this is a dream job for you.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop communications strategies in collaboration with stakeholders and work closely with marketing to ensure the alignment of internal and external messaging
  • Develop different types of content from press-releases and blogs to statements and IR announcements
  • Build relationships and communicate with journalists on a daily basis in different forms such as pitches, interviews, paid media placements, partnerships etc.
  • Handle internal communications through creating executive´s bios, Q&As, brief docs and providing media trainings
  • Brainstorm new approaches to communications and streamlining our day-to-day work
  • Manage reputation by anticipating potential crisis situations, creating strategy, drafting messaging, consulting with C-level management, communicating with the media, monitoring and reporting
  • Attend meetings and brainstorm with product and marketing teams
  • Constantly monitor the media field and identify trends relevant for Opera
  • Evaluate the sentiment around the brand and handle crisis situations
  • Report on the PR side of activities and product launches
  • Manage work with PR agencies across the world, including hiring, briefing, approving the budgets, evaluating the results etc.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for media queries

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or relevant field.
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role in the gaming industry.
  • A passion for gaming paired with a deep knowledge of the field
  • B2C Corporate communications or journalism experience is required.
  • Outstanding English, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with multiple international internal and external teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Publically available samples of work are a must.
