The accounting and financial reporting team within Opera is responsible for preparing timely and accurate financial statements for the Opera Group and its subsidiaries. Ensuring effective and efficient internal controls over financial reporting is inherent in everything the team does. Now, following a US-listing process and ongoing SOX implementation efforts, Opera is searching for a person to fill a temporary position as the group’s intercompany accountant. The engagement will be for 12 months, with possibility for permanent employment for the right candidate.

The Intercompany Accountant will be responsible for performing key closing activities related to intercompany, including performing intercompany billing, journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis. Moreover, the Intercompany Accountant will be responsible for driving continuous improvements in processes related to intercompany transactions and balances.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Calculate and process intercompany billing;
  • Perform monthly close activities related to intercompany;
  • Maintain complete and accurate account reconciliations;
  • Execute internal controls as relates to intercompany;
  • Develop strong working relationships with business partners and cross-functional teams;
  • Proactively seek opportunities for process improvement through ongoing review of processes and methods of data collection and report preparation to create efficiencies and eliminate non-value added work; and
  • Assist in the external audit process.

The position will report to Head of Accounting.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance;
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, preferably IFRS;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office or G Suite products, particularly Excel or Google Sheets;
  • Self-driven, flexible and adaptable in a continuously changing environment and have a strong work ethic in order to meet deadlines;
  • Structured, analytical and with the ability to see the bigger picture;
  • Ambitious and eager to learn; and
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, both in English and Norwegian.
