We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join Opera’s Legal Department. Our business is rapidly expanding, and we need a business-minded «do’er» who will take charge and help move our company forward. We are looking for someone who would be excited to work in a global, ever-changing environment. The ideal candidate in this role will need to provide hands-on legal support for our growing Gaming Business Unit. The location of the position is subject to discussion based on each candidate’s skills and circumstances and is anticipated to be seated at Opera’s offices in Oslo, Norway, or alternatively in Wroclaw, Poland.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Advisory: advising our gaming business unit on applicable law.
  • Compliance: applying Opera Group policies and procedures within the gaming business unit.
  • Contracting: managing contract negotiations and related processes with gaming customers, suppliers and partners.
  • Litigation: managing potential claims and dispute resolution processes and liaising with external counsel as needed.
  • Corporate: supporting the Opera Group’s corporate team on global project execution.
  • Reporting: reporting and keeping the group’s General Counsel informed of the progress of the foregoing tasks.

Job Requirements:

  • Master of Law or equivalent with strong academic results.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a legal professional, either in-house or with a law firm.
  • Prior relevant experience with contract drafting and negotiations.
  • Experience within the following legal areas is a benefit: user generated content; software development, licensing & distribution; digital marketing; Web3/crypto; IT & intellectual property; privacy & data protection.
  • A strong personal motivation, strategic mindset and commercial attitude.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Interest and knowledge of the gaming industry today.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
