Location: Oslo

We are looking for a self-driven and ambitious Business Controller to join our team in Oslo. You will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing strategic insights to drive business performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update marketing & distribution budgets of the Opera group.
  • Collaborate with department heads and their teams to update budgets and forecasts.
  • Work closely with department heads to help them drive financial performance and ensure budget alignment and financial discipline.
  • Review and approve various contracts and expenses/invoices.
  • Train new employees on budgeting and invoice/contract approval.
  • Perform internal controls and prepare monthly accruals during the period end close.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during audits and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
  • Assist teams with preparing consolidated financial statements and management reports.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, controls and policies.
  • Support and collaborate with other departments and key stakeholders on the business side
  • Analyze expenses, return on investments and ad hoc analytics of various projects and initiatives

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, or Business Administration with a Major in Finance/Financial Analytics.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • General understanding of accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Proven experience as a Business Controller or a comparable role, preferably within a similar industry with multiple sites and international operating environment.
  • Prior experience with Workday, SAP or other ERP systems is desirable.
  • Responsive, proactive, and positive attitude with a willingness to help.
